Mr. Leo Soliman
Director of Religious Education
Director of Religious Education
Contrary to some misconceptions, Mr. Soliman did not fall from the choir loft at Our Lady of Solace to become the Director of Religious Education at Our Lady of Solace-St. Dominic Parish.
When he first came from the Philippines he voluntarily taught Latin while his son, Carlo Patrick, wasattending Our Lady of Solace School. Finding that he enjoyed teaching the young people he became a Latin teacher first at Annunciation School in Crestwood, Yonkers, and then at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx.
From 1998 to 2004 he took a break from teaching to become a manager and administrator for a manufacturing company.
He returned to teaching Latin at Mt. St. Ursula Academy and there taught religion, ultimately becoming the chairman of their Religious Education Department where he remains today.
In September 2012 he accepted Fr. Robert’s proposal that he head our Religious Education program in addition to still being our Choir Leader and an active member of the Parish Council.
